The best of 2016
One thing we’ve really loved about 2016 is the fact that we’ve been able to make so many salon owners’ dreams become a reality. If you’re thinking about a salon revamp for 2017, read on…
Curiouser and curiouser
When Selena Pang came to us with a vision for a new, quirky take on glamour for her salon, The Curious Comb, it was our job to stick to her brief of a retro vibe with a fresh approach.
“We created a 1950s Miami South Beach launderette style décor, with a nod to our curious heritage. With accents of pastel colours like aqua, pink and grey, we created various 'zones' and decorated them differently, so each zone felt like a separate entity.
“We have a 'colour zone' where our chemical services are performed; it's a quieter, less intrusive area, with different salon chairs. In the 'drinks zone', we have a dedicated area with an assortment of refreshments and vintage coffee machines.
“Capital were always on hand to help and offer advice and additional information on the equipment they supplied.”

“I always had a clear idea for the salon’s look and feel,” says Jeff Rose, of Cheveux salon in Aberdeen.
“The focus was on creating a salon with a boutique feel, something that would reflect the name Cheveux, without being obviously themed. Using a soft grey paint throughout has given it a calm feeling and then, by adding lots of photographs and pictures, along with some turquoise highlights such as the reception desk – which was an old Victorian writing desk – we’ve given it an eclectic vibe.
“The Capital team in Aberdeen were brilliant, especially Sandra. She helped me pick comfortable Italian leather salon chairs that were easy to clean and stylish. She sourced and got the best price she could on the equipment I needed to get started. Getting in touch was never a problem, either by phone or email to update us on delivery dates.”

Mega makeover
When it came to the huge revamp of Shorter & Co London, in Lee, owner Steve wanted a completely new start.
“My aim with the new look of the salon was to give it a modern, sleek feel, with clean lines and lots of light. I wanted to make it somewhere we could give our clients a great service in a relaxing, modern environment, with small touches such as reclining hair basin chairs with foot rests to make them feel pampered.
“The Capital team were fantastic with their advice and help on what furniture would give the salon the look that I wanted to achieve. Bobby was on hand all of the time to answer any questions I had and to give advice on products. Even though I had lots of questions over a long period of time, right from the planning stages, ordering the salon furniture/equipment to delivery and aftercare, the team were fantastic and I can’t thank them enough.”
