Autumn brides
While the busiest bridal season may have been and gone, there are still plenty of brides out there who are musing over an autumnal or perhaps even a snowy white wedding this year. Here are our top three bridal beauty trends for the new season.Retro
Vintage bridal looks have become less of a trend and more of a regular request for the modern bride. Just as fashion designers frequently look back to the fashions of the 1940s and 1950s, so does the bridal market, and a vintage red lip and liner look is the perfect accompaniment. The fun part of this trend is that, depending on the bride, you can go as retro as you like, or keep things fresh and modern. For this look, a flawless matte base is essential – although you don’t want a powdery effect, that’s a bit too vintage! Then it’s all about mastering that flick of eyeliner and adding some false lashes, just to the outer lashes, for a dose of Hollywood glam. Of course, with this look, it’s a good idea to also look at retro hairstyles, such as victory rolls and twists.
Crisp red
Nothing complements a bridal gown more than a crisp red lip. While keeping things natural is a common request from brides, red can actually provide a subtle feel too. The secret to this look is finding the right red; think apple red, bright with the slightest touch of orange. For the base, add some luminosity on cheeks and brows and keep eyes neutral with a Champagne-coloured shadow. A great hairstyle for such a confident lip is a swept-back bun or chignon – which also look great with a slick side parting too.
Berry good
You’ve probably noticed a bit of red trend going on here! Berry tones are the easiest way for brides to play with colour on their big day. The spectrum is huge, from a gorgeously sheer and glossy cranberry to a deep, dark mulberry, as matte as your client dares. Berry shades also complement a whole range of eye combos; keep things clean with a neutral lid or go for drama with a blend of metallic chocolate, gold and burgundy. Hair-wise, a berry lip looks beautiful with a boho braided style.
