Vegan Beauty Trends You Need To Know

Veganism is no longer just about the food we consume, but about making cruelty-free & sustainable choices when it comes to our grooming regimes, too. Vegan beauty is undeniably on the rise and is now one of the fastest-growing categories of the moment; with an increasing number of brands developing make-up, skin & hair care formulations that are both kind to us & the environment.

To support Veganuary, the international campaign encouraging people to ‘go vegan’ during January, we’ve rounded up our favourite vegan-friendly beauty trends and products. Keep an eye out in store and on our website too, as we’ve highlighted more of our vegan-friendly ranges - perfect for those of you looking to promote plant power & offer your clients an animal-free option.

Beauty

Here at Capital we’re spoilt for choice for Vegan friendly skin care products. We’ve rounded up our favourites to combat dry winter skin and leave it feeling hydrated and glowing.

Brand New to Capital, Monu Skin is luxury skin care brand which focuses on natural, cruelty free skincare solutions.

We love their cleansing balm (£10+VAT) for its innovative blend of Blackcurrant, Rosehip Seed and Almond oils coupled with Wheat Germ and Apricot to calm and cleanse the skin whilst aiding in maintaining an enviable youthful suppleness.

We’re also obsessed with this Nourishing Treatment Oil (£14.95 + VAT) for when skin needs an extra boost. We can guarantee your clients will fall in love too.

Other products we can’t put down this veganuary are Dr Paw Paw’s balms. Made using the Paw Paw fruit, they are excellent at hydrating dry lips and patches of eczema. Try the Dr Paw Paw tinted balms on lips or cheeks to give yourself a blush of colour. Or use the original balm (£3.50 + VAT) to give cheekbones a dewy highlight.

If you have clients asking for a winter glow, Sienna X’s whole range of tanning products are certified vegan and promise full, streak free coverage. This 8% solution (£47.95+VAT) is the perfect colour to get you through the winter months.

Nails

Brighten up your January with our range of vegan gel nail polish from The Manicure Company. They’re 100% cruelty free, including all of their brushes - which are synthetic. For the perfect manicure, prep nails using Prep + Wipe(£4.15 + VAT) to fully clean nails and create the perfect base. For longer lasting colour, we highly recommend using the Ultra Primer (£7.60 + VAT) before applying the base coat (£7 + VAT). At the moment, we’re lusting over Bronze Baby (£7 + VAT), a full glitter metallic shade we promise will cheer up your winter blues.

Gellux is another of our favourite nail care brands which are completely vegan. Our favourite colours include You Can CanShopaholics, and Catching Waves(All £11.95 + VAT). They’re high quality, long lasting and come in a selection of enviable shades.

Hair

If you have clients wanting to mix up their colour with some vegan friendly alternatives we have plenty of options for you. NXT colour is perfect for clients who want high quality, long lasting colour and 100% grey coverage. NXT is also a great choice as its very affordable – this January you can get 5 colour tubes for just £20.

For people looking to ramp up the drama, Pulp Riot offer a huge range of bright colours in both permanent and semi-permanent. They even have vegan friendly bleach and developer. Their colours are fully bendable and fade true to colour, meaning clients will still have a great looking hair do, even after a few washes. Our favourites colours are Blush (£10.99 + VAT), Nightfall (£10.99 + VAT) and High Speed toner in Icy (£8.99 + VAT).

Another bright colour option with less commitment is Crazy Colour. With completely customisable colours which blend and fade beautifully in 8-12 washes this is a great option for clients just wanting to dip their toes in – or go all in - like this amazing creation by @Amber_Does_Mermaid_Hair using Crazy Colour.

For hair care, we absolutely love iQ’s nourishing shampoos and conditioners, use Intense Moisture (£8.99 + VAT) on dry and damaged hair to hydrate it and leave it feeling soft and strong. For sensitive scalps, try iQ Tea Tree Shampoo (£8.99 + VAT) and Conditioner (£3.49 + VAT), the tea tree and mint are cooling and anti-inflammatory.
