What's new for 2016?
We’re just putting the finishing touches to our fab Spring magazine, and of course there’s a huge focus on hair colour, cut and style trends for the season. Here we share some of our favourite trends, according to some the best in the business.Blondes in business
A vast majority of the colourists we spoke to for our Spring issue said that it’s going to be a very blonde season. For TIGI’s Christel Lundqvist, it’s about adding a touch of pastel to the trend:
Two colour trends I personally love are rose quartz and apricot beige and I predict they’re colours we’ll see more and more of in 2016. To a certain extent it’s bringing back the formerly popular pastel trend, but this time around the technique and approach has been updated.”
Freddie Cunliffe agrees: “My top look for Spring is natural babylights! Fun, fresh, clean blondes with subtle tones of amber and corals are accentuated with textured lengths.”
Embracing texture
For some clients, a trip to the hair salon means eradicating every last hint of their own natural texture, but many of the stylists that we spoke to said that the trend for achieving the opposite is over.
Kinky Curly Straight’s Alyse Santry says: “My top looks for Spring come from exaggerating and enhancing the natural texture within the hair, playing around with natural movement and waves. No longer are we straightening and over curling but we are working with what the hair naturally wants to do.”
Cream’s Will Eagles says: “the crowning glory for Spring styles will be natural texture; think dry matte finishes, even crimped sections! It’s a great time to ditch the hot styling tools and work with your clients’ natural texture!”
