Spring 2015 Colour Trends - Not quite what you'd expect
While the vast majority of your grey clients most likely come in to hide their greys, you might just have a new type of grey client coming into the salon this season. Maybe the new film, Fifty Shades of Grey has something to do with it, but this usually unwanted tone is set to be a HUGE hair colour trend for 2015. When you look back on the pastel trend that’s pretty much stayed put since it first emerged around three years ago, going grey makes sense. It’s a variation on blonde, undoubtedly the most popular colour choice ever, and at the same time, it’s a nod to the pastel lilac, lavender and blue shades that have become popular with a younger audience.
The fact that the UK has an ageing population also means that more products are being created for women who have grey hair to actually maintain a silvery tone, rather than cover it up completely with another colour. As more women embrace the once taboo shade – a sign of ageing – it’s only natural that a younger market will see it as a ‘fun’ colour, especially when they see the likes of Rihanna and Kelly Osbourne trying the trend on for size. Other celebs such as Kylie Jenner have also played with the shade using an ombre technique on dark hair. As with all trends, once the celebs embrace it, it’s a matter of months when the public at large takes it on, so this is definitely set to stay with us throughout 2015.
One thing that is undeniable about going grey un-naturally is that this isn’t something people can play with at home; it’s a salon-only colour result, which can only be good news for you and your fellow professionals!
Don’t forget, if you’re looking to refresh your colour techniques, we have plenty of courses to get you on track to give your going-grey-early clients the shades they crave. Check out our Cutting & Colour Hair Training Courses for more info.
