Get the look! - Autumn/Winter style
Winter styles always seem a little more severe, simple - even strict. Amongst the slicked back styles, we found this gorgeously bouncy gem of a catwalk look, for those clients in need of a flirty party style. It’s time to play! The look at the Autumn/Winter Bottega Veneta show was all about fun, frivolous curls, something many of your clients will find a challenge to recreate. We spoke to London salon Taylor Taylor’s Ashley White to get the low down on creating such a sultry style.
Part the hair in a deep low side parting, before applying a little shine spray, and blow dry out the top layer of the hair until it is smooth and shiny. Make sure to direct the roots down and smooth out any flyaway cuticles.
Now you will need either small or large silver sectioning clips and small pieces of card or thick paper – so the clips don’t mark the hair. Using a soft bristle dressing brush, smooth out and spray the hair down, until it is nice and flat.
Starting at the hair line, around 2 - 3 inches above the ear, place a line of clips around the head from one side all the way around to the other. This will keep the hair in place while you are curling the rest.
Now, using a small barrel tong or curling wand, start to curl the hair in small 1 inch sections, spraying each section with hairspray first to lock in the curl. Pin each curl as you go with either small silver setting clips or bobby pins. Leave the pinned curls to set until all of the hair is cool.
Remove all of the clips from the pinned curls but leave the clips holding down the top of the hair. Using the dressing brush, start to brush out the curls to create a bit of frizz and volume.
Keep brushing until the curls are broken up. Now, using a tail comb, give the roots a gentle back comb and lightly back comb the ends of the hair to fluff them up. You can also do this with your fingers for a less uniform look.
Fix the look with a last spritz of strong hold hairspray.
