Christmas marketing tips for your salon
T’is the season to be selling! December is the busiest month of the year as your clients prepare themselves for the party season. Read our marketing tips to promote your salon during the festive frenzy.Social Media:
December is a busy month so make your social media posts count. Your time is precious, so only post interesting things that will catch the eye of your followers. Drum up sales by promoting your Christmas special offers and gift cards and inspire your clients with party hair or beauty ideas and photos of your Christmas creations. Don’t forget to use festive #hashtags, as well as hashtagging your salon name and location. You can also use these hashtags on your in-salon marketing, such as posters.
Change profile pictures to showcase your Christmas creations or treatments. If you’re having time off over the festive period, schedule social media content to ensure your pages are up to date. A post wishing your clients a happy Christmas and New Year is a nice touch.
Read our blog on How To Make the Most of Social Media.
Website, Email and Answerphone:
This is a good time to brighten up your website. Include a tab for Christmas special offers, packages and retail products. Make sure your gift cards are clearly advertised.
State your Christmas opening hours clearly on your website, social media and email signature throughout December. You can also include these on your answerphone, along with a short selection of Christmas promotions.
Free Marketing Space:
Turn your salon into a winter wonderland! Hang up Christmas decorations and play Christmas music, though make sure to consider your brand and desired atmosphere, and don’t play one Christmas CD on a loop as it could irritate your clients (and staff!). Personalise all posters and hanging graphics and use these to advertise your special offers, retail items and gift cards.
The streets outside your salon will be heaving come December. A fabulously festive window display is a great way to attract customers. Make sure this eye-catching space encourages passers-by to pop in for hair or beauty gifts and use windows to promote your great deals.
Reviews and Salon Selfies:
Word of mouth is still one of the best ways to attract new clients so encourage clients to post reviews online. Why not try hanging up an empty picture frame, decorated with holly, tinsel and baubles, and invite your clients to pose with it for a photo after their treatment. If they share it on social media tagging your salon in it or using your salon name as a hashtag, offer them a discount in January.
Retail and Gift Cards:
December is your biggest retail opportunity of the year. Create Christmassy displays to showcase your retail products. Place inexpensive items on the reception desk as a tempting, last-minute purchase. Add a sign saying “Ideal stocking fillers.” Price all items clearly and remember eye level is buy level. Don’t forget the importance of gift cards; they are guaranteed income and can introduce a new client to your salon. Ensure gift cards are advertised on your social media, website, windows and reception desk, and are in a prominent place in your salon.
